I am continuously amazed at the demonstrations Jesus gave to display the Kingdom of Heaven. He was not content to just talk about it, but rather demonstrate it. Let’s face it, anyone can “talk a good talk” …but there is something about seeing information in action.
Evidence of God
I don’t know about you, but I want to see evidence of God, not just around me, but through me. Isn’t that what Jesus meant when He said, “And these signs will FOLLOW those who believe…” Mark 16:17? Where are the signs? …demonstrations of HOW to live, HOW to minister, and HOW to BE a disciple?
My son loves to watch YouTubers play video games. At first, this seemed ridiculous to me, but then I got it. You see, my son is interested in learning more than just information about the game, he is interested in learning HOW to play the game, more specifically how to win. And the fastest way for him to learn, was by seeing it demonstrated for him.
Life of Demonstration
Well, I want to win! I want to win at life, and I NEED to see others living a life of demonstration so I can learn HOW to play successfully!
The Bible tells us that “the Kingdom of heaven is not a matter of talk, but of power” (1 Cor. 4:20). Let’s face, we can talk till we are blue in the face, but so can the world… talk, talk, talk… teach, teach, teach. But it is the power of God demonstrated THROUGH us moves other beyond knowledge and into reality.
Hence the words of Paul in 1 Cor. 2:4, “my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power.“ Come on, even the world is engaging in the power of demonstration… that’s the appeal of YouTube!! I can learn by watching.
It’s time to step up and allow the Holy Spirit to use our lives to demonstrate HIS power and HIS Kingdom.
