fear, overcoming fear, trusting God

Overcoming Fear

In the tapestry of our lives, fear often weaves its threads, creating intricate patterns that can seem overwhelming. Yet, the Bible assures us that overcoming fear is not synonymous with its absence; rather, it is about feasting on the goodness of God in the very midst of fear.

Psalm 23:5 beautifully paints a picture of God’s provision and anointing even in the face of adversaries: “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.”

It’s a reminder that fear need not dictate our experiences. God invites us to His table, a banquet where His goodness abounds, regardless of the fears that surround us. The key lies not in erasing fear from our lives but in tapping into the supernatural power available in the Spirit realm.

Scripture acknowledges that a life without the presence of fear is improbable. However, it boldly declares that a life without the power of fear is not only desirable but achievable through the realm of the Spirit. This journey involves crossing the Jordan River of our soul, a process we’ll explore in later chapters, and diving into the abundant feast of His Presence.

Challenge Question 1:

How often do we allow fear to hinder our access to the banquet of God’s goodness?

Challenge Question 2:

Are we willing to cross the Jordan River of our soul, embracing the Spirit’s empowerment over the power of fear?

Heavenly Father, amid life’s uncertainties and fears, I thank You for the promise that Your goodness prevails. I thank You for the courage to approach Your table, to partake in the feast of Your Presence, and to trust in the power of Your Spirit to overcome fear. Lord, I declare that I will navigate the Jordan River of my soul and experience the abundance that flows from Your hand. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
